Hi all, Community Setup #2 is now starting. Thanks again to KnightofPepsi for recording a match with Community Setup #1 and allowing us to continue with a new setup. If you missed that match, be sure to check out the other Community Setup thread and KnightofPepsi’s YouTube channel!
Just a reminder of how this works:
We as a community will each take turns picking individual pieces in the setup. I will continue to update the progress of the setup with pictures as it develops. Once all of the pieces are filled in, hopefully we will have a volunteer to play a match with commentary and post it on YouTube.
As for the rules regarding piece selection, there are none. I made a poll for potential rules and whatnot, but we didn’t really get enough participation in the poll thread to do anything one way or the other. I guess we will see how it works without any rules, and then see if changes need to be made in the future. All I would ask is that if you wish to make picks that would potentially make the setup unplayable, it would be nice if you’d volunteer yourself to record a match with the setup. I think this may be the best solution for everyone, since we can all still have fun making a crazy setup, and that way I don’t end up wasting a lot of my time unnecessarily if we don’t get any volunteers.
I will go ahead and let somebody else pick the first piece this time, so we are starting with a completely empty setup:
The first person to comment will get to choose the first piece. When making your selection, please list the name of the piece you are choosing, then the square in which you’d like to place that piece.
If there aren’t any new picks after 24hrs, then you can make a second consecutive pick. I think this will be the only rule that is mandatory for this, because otherwise 1 person could theoretically pick literally the entire setup and the thread would be pointless in that case. I think waiting 24hours seems ok if there aren’t any new picks, since that way we can still finish the setup somewhat quickly if interest dies down for whatever reason. This also allows people who may not log in to the forum as often to have a chance to pick a piece before the setup is finished.
If you have any feedback on how to improve these threads, please also feel free to comment that as well! Thanks!
